Additive manufacturing (AM) techniques allow to fabricate customized parts with very complex geometries in a rapid design-to-manufacture cycle. Before this high potential can be fully exploited the basic understanding of the mechanical and functional behavior of these materials and structures need to be substantially improved at all scales. In particular, a better understanding of fracture and fatigue performance is key. The symposium is aimed to provide an update state of the art on this topic attracting contributions tackling the problem from different perspectives.
